![]() I plan to split the 20L batch into two fermentation vessels, one with 34/70 and the other potentially with the new Novolager strand, or with Mangrove Jacks Bavarian lager since I have one on hand. I dont have much experience here, so would be open to any suggestions. Thus, I plan to try to keep a long mash at the lower end of the spectrum. I did some tests with just water and found that the temp probe on my Grainfather S40 was about 2-3C lower than what my inkbird thermometer read. Similarly, given the sweetness of my first batches I am concerned I am mashing too high. I hope this should result in a much more dry beer than my first attempt. I have also considerably added more hops and have adjusted the water chem to a much larger extent. Would anyone suggest to drop it completely? I am nervous to go 100% Vienna malt, but I would consider dropping the chocolate or the Munich. This batch: given my experiences, I plan to tone down the chocolate malt. It came out OK, I have since then added some experience and temp control fermentation so I am hoping it comes out better.įirst batch experiences: (bottled) not enough carbonation, taste was too sweet - ended up with about 2% pale chocolate malt. I am going to re-do my 2nd batch ever which was a Vienna Lager. ![]() IRC channel Specific Fermentation-Related Sub-RedditsĬider Mead Wine Brew Gear For Sale Distilling Spanish Homebrewing Subreddit Growing Hops Grainfather "Hold my yeast" - crazy fermentation ideas Prison Hooch - getting drunk for pennies Pro Brewing Kombucha Fermented Foods Automated Brewing If you can think of a good general link or even a better one than is currently posted please message the mods and let us know!
